The Paralegal position is a pivotal role focused on contributing to the efficient management, documentation, and organization of cases.
Working in close collaboration with clients, attorneys, support staff, experts, and the court, this role is dedicated to facilitating litigation and prelitigation claim management within the realm of property insurance disputes.
Responsibilities:
Act as a single point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and providing information or documentation.
Prepare legal correspondence, including letters, demands, breach notices, and maintain organized document systems, both electronically and in print.
Independently review incoming materials, assess the urgency of tasks, and prepare a variety of legal documents.
Obtain necessary information from clients, files, experts, insurance companies, or other sources, submitting completed legal documents to the appropriate attorney.
Prepare and track legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, and appeals.
Assist in preparing for hearings, depositions, and trials by organizing exhibits, affidavits, and aiding with discovery.
Investigate facts and law, analyzing research data from various sources to determine causes of action and prepare cases.
Meet with clients and other professionals to discuss case details.
File pleadings with the court clerk, coordinate law office activities, and perform docketing duties.
Manage the case tracking system, obligate funds for litigation expenses, and review bills and invoices.
Maintain a calendar of active cases, track filing, hearing, and trial dates, and schedule conferences and interviews.
Arrange travel logistics and produce a variety of written documents and materials using office software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Ensure document accuracy, proper format, and adherence to language conventions.
Qualifications:
Preferably holds a paralegal certificate or bachelor's degree.
Substantial work experience equivalent to four to seven years in a paralegal role with similar duties.
Experience working with insurance companies, managing insurance claims, or litigation related to insurance companies is highly desirable.
Basic legal knowledge, including proficiency in standard legal citation and experience with legal research tools like Westlaw.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of various computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging.
Experience with MyCase or a similar electronic case management system is beneficial.
Bilingual abilities are preferred.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
